Guide
Gameplan
Ramp hard with colorless mana rocks and big-mana lands, then deploy Ulamog to wipe a key permanent on cast and crash in with Annihilator 4. As a colorless commander you build a Commander tax/Eldrazi shell that punishes opponents with massive creatures and protects your board while overwhelming with size.
Strengths
- Indestructible and shuffles back when it dies, making it extremely resilient to removal
- Free permanent destruction every time you cast it, plus crippling Annihilator 4 on attack
- Colorless identity means it slots into any deck and stresses no color requirements
- Annihilator 4 ends games fast once it connects
Weaknesses
- 11 mana is a massive investment; you brick if ramp is disrupted
- Vulnerable to exile, bounce, and -X/-X effects that bypass indestructibility
- No evasion natively, so it can be chump-blocked all day
- Colorless identity locks you out of true interaction, card draw, and tutors from colored cards
- Slow starts leave you defenseless before Ulamog lands
Key Cards
- Eldrazi Temple — Taps for two toward Eldrazi spells, dramatically accelerating Ulamog and friends.
- Eye of Ugin — Free Eldrazi cost reduction and a tutor for the next titan.
- Sol Ring — Premier colorless acceleration that helps reach double-digit mana.
- Ugin, the Spirit Dragon — Colorless planeswalker that ramps the deck's nut draw and sweeps the board.
- Rogue's Passage — Gives Ulamog evasion to force through lethal Annihilator damage.
Upgrade Path
Lean harder into fast colorless ramp—add Eldrazi Temple, Ancient Tomb, Mana Crypt, Grim Monolith, and Cloud Key effects to land Ulamog turns ahead of schedule. Include more evasion/haste enablers (Rogue's Passage, Hall of the Bandit Lord) and additional Eldrazi titans plus Kozilek's Channeler-style payoffs. Add stax pieces like Winter Orb and Smokestack to keep opponents off their footing while you assemble the nut draw.
