What it does

Epic is a spell ability found only on Future Sight's Arcanum spells. When you cast an Epic spell, you get its effect once immediately, then for the rest of the game you can't cast any other spells—instead, at the beginning of each of your upcoming turns, you copy that Epic spell (without paying its cost) and may choose new targets. It's essentially a "one and done" finale that keeps repeating its effect every turn. The big nuance: you copy it, you don't recast it. The copy is created on the stack each upkeep, so it isn't affected by "can't cast spells" restrictions, and you never pay mana again. But you're permanently locked out of casting anything else, including instants. In Commander, Epic is rare and risky—locking yourself out of spells for a long game is brutal—so cards like Enduring Ideal (which fetches enchantments each turn) are the only realistic payoff.
