What it does
Gather Your Courage is a flavorful keyword action introduced in Bloomburrow, tied to its "Valiant" theme. When you cast a spell with Gather Your Courage, you may tap any number of untapped creatures you control to help pay an additional cost—essentially "convoking" the spell's bravery component. Each tapped creature contributes toward the requirement, letting smaller boards push out a bigger effect.
The common confusion: tapping creatures this way isn't an attack and doesn't trigger combat abilities, but it does tap them, so they can't block or attack later that turn. Also, creatures with summoning sickness can still be tapped for Gather Your Courage, since it's not an activated ability requiring the tap symbol.
In Commander, it shines in go-wide token decks where you have plenty of bodies to tap. Just sequence carefully—don't strip your blockers right before an opponent's big swing.
