What it does
Gust of Wind is a one-mana blue instant from Portal that simply returns target permanent you own to your hand. (Note: there's no actual "keyword" here—it's a specific card, not an ability word.)
The most common misunderstanding is the "you own" restriction. Unlike Unsummon, Gust of Wind can only bounce your own permanents—it can't be used to remove an opponent's blocker or threat. This makes it purely a self-targeting effect, useful for saving your own creature from removal, resetting enters-the-battlefield triggers, or returning a token (which then ceases to exist).
In Commander, it's a niche tool. It can protect a key creature in response to spot removal, dodge a board wipe, or re-trigger valuable ETB effects on creatures like Mulldrifter. However, far better options like Snap or Brazen Borrower usually outclass it.
