What it does

Hive Mind is a static ability (most famously on the card Hive Mind) that says: whenever a player casts an instant or sorcery spell, each other player copies that spell, choosing new targets for their copies. The nuance people miss: the copies are created on the stack and resolve, but they're never "cast," so they don't trigger cast-related abilities, and they ignore additional costs. This is the engine behind the infamous Hive Mind + free-to-cast Pact combo (like Pact of Negation): you cast a Pact for free, everyone else gets a Pact copy they didn't pay for, and on their upkeep they must pay the Pact's mana cost or lose the game. In Commander, it's a chaotic political and combo card. Each opponent gets a copy, so symmetrical effects suddenly hit everyone—great for one-sided combos, dangerous if your opponents have answers or interaction to redirect copies.
