What it does
Reconfigure lets an Equipment creature attach itself to another creature you control by paying its reconfigure cost, turning it into an Equipment instead of a creature. While attached, it's not a creature—just an Equipment granting its bonuses to the equipped creature. You can also pay the cost again to unattach it, making it a creature once more. Reconfigure can only target creatures you control and works at sorcery speed.
The biggest nuance: while reconfigured (attached), the Equipment creature isn't a creature, so it can't be targeted by creature removal, can't attack or block, and doesn't count toward creature-based effects. But if its host dies, the Equipment simply becomes unattached and stays on the battlefield as an Equipment—it doesn't die or go away.
In Commander, this flexibility shines: it dodges board wipes that destroy creatures (it survives as an Equipment), buffs your commander, and adapts to the board state. Watch that Equipment-removal can still hit it while attached.
