What it does
Spear of the Void Dragon is an Equipment artifact from the Universes Beyond: Warhammer 40,000 decks. It grants the equipped creature +1/+0 and, when it deals combat damage to a player, that player sacrifices an artifact, creature, or planeswalker. Additionally, if it deals combat damage to a player who controls no permanents of those types, they lose 5 life instead.
The nuance people miss: the sacrifice trigger fires on combat damage to a player, not to a planeswalker or battle—so trample damage redirected fully to a planeswalker won't trigger it. Also, the controller of the damaged permanents chooses what to sacrifice, so they'll typically dump their least valuable token or chump.
In Commander, it shines on evasive creatures, grinding down opponents' boards each turn. Pair it with unblockable or flying creatures to guarantee the trigger, and it's effective removal-on-a-stick against go-wide or superfriends decks.
