What it does

Tempting offer is a mechanic where you cast a spell or activate an ability, then each other player may choose to let you do something extra. For each opponent who agrees, you get an additional copy of the effect—but every player who agreed also gets a smaller version of that benefit for themselves. For example, Tempt with Discovery fetches you one land, plus another land for each player who accepts; but those players also each search up a land. The nuance people miss: opponents decide simultaneously and secretly-ish in turn order, and the bonus to them is real, so it's a genuine political tradeoff. You always get your base effect regardless of whether anyone accepts. In Commander, it shines because the multiplayer format gives you up to three "yes" votes, massively amplifying your payoff—just expect savvy tables to decline when they recognize the trap.
