Why is this card good?

Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is a ritual-on-a-land that rewards heavily single-colored, pip-dense boards. When you tap it for {2} and choose a color, you're spending 3 mana total to get back your devotion — so it only nets mana once you have 4+ pips of that color in play. At that point it can explode into enormous, repeatable mana that fuels game-ending X spells, big bombs, or just more permanents. It shines in mono-color decks with low-CMC, high-pip permanents — mono-green ramp/stompy, mono-black devotion, mono-red, mono-white go-wide. Commanders like Yuriko aside, think Krenko, Karametra-style mono-G, or any deck built around a saturated board. Devotion-themed and big-mana strategies love it most. Don't play it in two-or-more color decks where pips are split between colors — your devotion to any single color stays too low to break even. It's also weak in early turns or low-permanent control shells. If your board isn't reliably four-plus pips of one color, it's just a tapland that costs you mana.
