The Commander

You may tap three untapped Dwarves you control rather than pay this spell's mana cost.

At the beginning of each end step, if a land you controlled was put into a graveyard from the battlefield this turn, reveal the top four cards of your library. You may put any number of Dwarf cards from among them into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.

Guide

Gameplan

Cheat The Lady of Otaria into play early by tapping three Dwarves, then build a wide Dwarf board while grinding card advantage off lands hitting the graveyard each turn. You loop fetchlands, sacrifice outlets, and land recursion to trigger her end-step dig, refilling your hand with Dwarves before overrunning the table with a buffed-up tribal army.

Strengths

  • Repeatable, no-cost card advantage that snowballs a Dwarf board faster than opponents can answer.
  • Can deploy a 5-mana commander essentially for free by tapping three Dwarves, accelerating the gameplan.
  • Naturally pairs with fetchlands and land recursion you'd run anyway, so the trigger is cheap to enable.
  • Resilient grindy plan in colors with strong reach, ramp, and removal.

Weaknesses

  • The end-step trigger requires a land entering the graveyard every turn, demanding consistent fetch/sacrifice density.
  • Board-centric and vulnerable to wraths that erase your Dwarf army and her free-cast engine.
  • Card draw only finds Dwarves, so a Dwarf-light draw whiffs entirely.
  • No built-in evasion or finisher; needs additional payoffs to actually close games.

Key Cards

  • Magda, Brazen Outlaw — Buffs Dwarves and turns their taps into Treasures that ramp into dragons and artifacts while you cast Otaria for free.
  • Crucible of Worlds — Lets you replay fetchlands and Strip Mine every turn, guaranteeing Otaria's land-to-graveyard trigger fires repeatedly.
  • Zuran Orb — A free, repeatable sacrifice outlet that reliably puts a land in the graveyard each turn to enable the dig.
  • Depala, Pilot Exemplar — Anthems and draws off Dwarves, stacking with Otaria for a deep tribal card-advantage engine.
  • Splendid Reclamation — Returns all those sacrificed fetchlands at once for explosive mana and a guaranteed trigger setup.

Upgrade Path

Tighten the manabase with all available green-red fetchlands plus Crucible of Worlds and Ramunap Excavator so the end-step trigger never misses. Add Magda Treasure payoffs and free sacrifice outlets like Zuran Orb to make land-to-graveyard automatic, then top the curve with a reliable finisher such as Craterhoof Behemoth or a tutorable game-ending dragon.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Overrun a wide, anthem-buffed Dwarf army with trample enablers like Craterhoof Behemoth or Overwhelming Stampede.
  • ▸Generate Treasures with Magda to cheat in big dragons or artifact bombs as finishers.
  • ▸Grind opponents out of resources with relentless card advantage, then close with combat damage.

Archetypes

  • Dwarf Tribal — Her free-cast cost and card draw both key off Dwarves, rewarding a dense Dwarf creature base.
  • Lands — Fetchlands, Crucible loops, and land sacrifice fuel both her trigger and ramp-heavy value engines.
  • Tokens/Go-Wide Aggro — Magda Treasures and Dwarf anthems let you flood the board and swing wide for the win.
