What it does
Alliance is a triggered ability that fires whenever another creature you control enters the battlefield. Each Alliance creature has its own specific effect—something like dealing damage, drawing cards, or buffing your team—but they all share that same trigger condition.
The key nuance people miss is the word "another." The Alliance creature itself entering does not trigger its own ability; only subsequent creatures entering after it cause the trigger. Also, it triggers on any creature entering, not just ones cast from hand—tokens, reanimation, blinks, and copies all count. It's strictly your creatures, so opponents' creatures never set it off.
In Commander, Alliance rewards go-wide and token strategies, plus blink/flicker decks that repeatedly bounce and replay creatures. Stacking multiple Alliance creatures turns a single board-flood spell into a massive cascade of triggers.
