What it does

Hexproof means a permanent (usually a creature) can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control. You can still target your own hexproof creatures with your own auras, removal, and pump spells. The biggest misconception: hexproof does not stop board wipes, sacrifice effects, or "each player" effects. Those don't target. So a Hexproof creature still dies to Wrath of God, gets sacrificed to Edict effects like Diabolic Edict, and is affected by Cyclonic Rift. Hexproof only blocks targeted interaction from opponents—nothing else. In Commander, hexproof shines on voltron strategies where you're stacking auras and equipment on a single threat you don't want killed by spot removal. But savvy tables answer it with sweepers, edicts, and forced sacrifice. Don't lean on hexproof as untouchable protection—it has clear holes.
