Why is this card good?

Lotus Petal is one of the best free mana accelerants in the format — it costs nothing to cast and converts into one mana of any color the moment you need it. The catch is it's a one-shot ritual, not a permanent rock. That makes it best in decks that want explosive, single-turn payoffs rather than steady ramp: - cEDH and combo decks that need to land a commander or assemble a combo a turn early — the tempo of a free mana source matters more than long-term value. - Storm and spellslinger decks, where Petal fuels storm count, casts your enabler, or fixes off-color pips. - Artifact synergies (Urza, affinity, Sai) that care about cheap artifacts hitting the battlefield and sacrifice fodder. Don't run it in slower, grindy battlecruiser or midrange decks. There, a Signet or Mind Stone that produces mana repeatedly is far stronger. Petal only shines when speed, fixing, or storm/sacrifice synergy turns that one-time burst into a real advantage.
