The Commander

Whenever Ayesha Tanaka attacks, look at the top four cards of your library. You may put any number of artifact cards with mana value less than or equal to Ayesha Tanaka's power from among them onto the battlefield tapped. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.

Ayesha Tanaka can't be blocked as long as defending player controls three or more artifacts.

Guide

Gameplan

Suit up Ayesha, attack, and dig four deep to drop artifacts straight onto the battlefield for free. You scale her power so you can flop down bigger artifacts each combat, building a board of mana rocks, equipment, and bombs while her evasion clause turns most opponents into open lanes. Grind incremental advantage until your artifacts (and the creatures wearing them) overwhelm the table.

Strengths

  • Repeatable card and mana advantage from a low-cost commander attack trigger
  • Built-in evasion against any deck running three-plus artifacts (which is most pods)
  • UW gives best-in-class protection, board wipes, and recursion to keep her attacking
  • Power-boosting effects double as deeper artifact cheating, creating synergy between Voltron and ramp

Weaknesses

  • Trigger only hits artifacts, so colorless-light builds whiff often
  • Relies on connecting in combat; removal or chump blocks stall the engine
  • Evasion fails against artifact-light opponents who can simply block her
  • No inherent way to convert advantage into a fast win without a combo or payoff
  • Low base power (2) limits early cheats until you invest in pumps

Key Cards

  • Sword of Feast and Famine — Pumps her power to enable bigger cheats while untapping lands and stripping the blocker's hand on connect.
  • Cranial Plating — Scales Ayesha's power with your artifact count, letting you cheat in your most expensive bombs.
  • Sai, Master Thopterist — Floods the board with thopters off all the artifacts you're dropping, adding bodies and card draw.
  • Etherium Sculptor — Cost reduction plus an early artifact that helps trigger her unblockable clause.
  • Open the Vaults — A massive payoff to rebuild and dump everything Ayesha has milled to the bottom or lost to wipes.
  • Whir of Invention — Tutors the exact artifact bomb or combo piece you need to slam onto the battlefield.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana rocks (Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Sol Ring) and power-pumping equipment to enable bigger cheats earlier, then include a tight combo line such as Thopter Foundry + Sword of the Meek + Time Sieve for a clean kill. Tighten the artifact curve toward high-impact targets and tutors (Whir of Invention, Tezzeret the Seeker) so Ayesha's trigger consistently hits game-changers, and back it with cheap interaction to protect your attacks.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Voltron commander damage with stacked equipment and her unblockable clause
  • ▸Artifact combo finishes like Thopter-Sword or infinite mana into a payoff
  • ▸Going wide with thopter/servo tokens from artifact ETB engines
  • ▸Overwhelming board advantage from repeatedly cheating bombs into play

Archetypes

  • Artifacts (Big Mana) — Her trigger cheats expensive mana rocks and bombs into play, snowballing your artifact-fueled mana base.
  • Voltron — Equipment that raises her power simultaneously lets her hit harder and cheat costlier artifacts.
  • Combo — UW artifact synergies enable engines like Time Sieve/Thopter Foundry or infinite mana rock loops she can assemble.
  • Control — UW counters, wipes, and bounce protect Ayesha while she grinds out card and mana advantage.
