Faldorn, Dread Wolf Herald
The Commander
Whenever you cast a spell from exile or a land you control enters from exile, create a 2/2 green Wolf creature token.

Guide
Gameplan
Faldorn turns impulse-draw into a token engine: every spell you cast from exile or land that enters from exile spawns a 2/2 Wolf. You churn through your library with cascade, impulse exile effects, and adventures while flooding the board, then go wide for lethal swings backed by overruns and anthems.
Strengths
- Generates free 2/2 bodies just for playing the way temur/Gruul decks already want to play
- Excellent card advantage from stacking impulse-draw effects with the token payoff
- Cheap commander (3 mana) that rebuilds boards quickly after wipes
- Synergizes broadly with cascade, foretell, adventure, and exile-matters cards
Weaknesses
- Wolves are vanilla 2/2s and fold to board wipes without a backup plan
- Many impulse effects make you play cards immediately or lose them, creating sequencing pressure
- Heavily reliant on Faldorn being on the battlefield to convert exile triggers into value
- Gruul lacks strong interaction, so combo and control decks can race you
Key Cards
- Etali, Primal Storm — Casts spells from exile off attack triggers, each making a Wolf while generating huge value.
- Apex Devastator — Quadruple cascade casts four spells from exile, netting four Wolves plus the spells themselves.
- Maja, Bretagard Protector — Anthems your tokens and makes a body when lands enter, doubling as payoff and threat.
- Bala Ged Recovery — A modal land/spell that helps trigger Faldorn and rebuy resources.
- Beast Within — Premium Gruul removal to clear blockers or problem permanents before the alpha strike.
- Craterhoof Behemoth — Converts your wide Wolf board into immediate lethal damage.
Upgrade Path
Lean harder into stacking impulse-draw and cascade enablers so a single turn produces multiple Wolves, then add token doublers (Doubling Season, Parallel Lives) and overrun finishers (Craterhoof, Overwhelming Stampede). Improve your mana with fast rocks and fetch-style lands that exile cards, and add a few protection pieces (Heroic Intervention, Tyvar's Stand) so a board wipe doesn't reset your whole game.

Win Conditions
- ▸Alpha strike with a wide Wolf board pumped by Craterhoof Behemoth or Pathbreaker Ibex
- ▸Anthem effects like Maja and Cathars' Crusade turning chip damage into lethal
- ▸Repeated cascade waves (Apex Devastator, Etali) overwhelming the table with value and bodies
Archetypes
- Tokens / Go-Wide — Faldorn passively produces Wolves that anthems and overruns turn into a kill.
- Cascade / Spellslinger — Cascade and impulse-cast spells trigger Faldorn while advancing your board.
- Landfall — Lands entering from exile (fetch-from-exile and modal land cards) make Wolves and pair with landfall payoffs.
