When Kalain enters, create a Treasure token. (It's an artifact with ", Sacrifice this token: Add one mana of any color.")
Other creatures you control enter with an additional +1/+1 counter on them for each mana from a Treasure spent to cast them.
Ramp into Treasures early, then dump that Treasure mana into big creatures so they enter loaded with +1/+1 counters. You build a wide-but-tall board fast, abusing artifact mana and sacrifice synergies to either swarm with buffed bodies or fuel an aristocrats/combo finish.
Cheap two-mana commander that immediately replaces itself with a Treasure
Treasure mana scales counters infinitely—huge tokens or creatures for cheap
Slots into Treasure, Aristocrats, and +1/+1 counter shells in BR
Rewards artifact ramp you'd run anyway, so deckbuilding is flexible
Counters only apply on cast, not from blink or reanimation—anti-synergy with cheating creatures into play
Board-wipe vulnerable since value is invested in creatures
BR lacks reliable enchantment/artifact removal and card draw can stall
The counter ability is symmetric only on creatures cast with Treasure mana—no extra value the turn you spend non-Treasure mana
Treasure-centric alternate win that fits the engine perfectly.
Add fast mana and Treasure doublers (Goldspan Dragon, Xorn, Smothering Tithe-style payoffs) plus proliferate effects to grow counters further. Tighten the curve toward efficient Treasure makers like Dockside and Pitiless Plunderer, and include sacrifice outlets and aristocrat drains so a board wipe doesn't blank your investment. Round out with proactive interaction and a couple of compact combos for closing power-level gaps.
