Mishra, Claimed by Gix
The Commander
Whenever you attack, each opponent loses X life and you gain X life, where X is the number of attacking creatures. If Mishra, Claimed by Gix and a creature named Phyrexian Dragon Engine are attacking, and you both own and control them, exile them, then meld them into Mishra, Lost to Phyrexia. It enters tapped and attacking.
Guide
Gameplan
Build a wide, aggressive Rakdos board and attack every turn to drain each opponent for the number of attackers while you gain that life, snowballing into a one-sided life-total race. You curve into Mishra, swing with as many bodies as possible, and ideally meld him with Phyrexian Dragon Engine into Mishra, Lost to Phyrexia for an even nastier attack trigger. Tokens, sacrifice value, and extra-combat effects all push the drain higher and faster.
Strengths
- Symmetrical multiplayer drain hits every opponent on each attack, scaling with go-wide token strategies
- Lifegain on attack keeps you out of range while racing three opponents at once
- Cheap at four mana with an immediate, combat-relevant payoff
- Meld with Phyrexian Dragon Engine gives a powerful upgrade and a hard-to-interact second copy
Weaknesses
- Triggers on declaring attackers, so creatures can be chumped or removed and you still take risks attacking into open mana
- Heavily reliant on having a board, vulnerable to wraths that reset your token count
- The meld requires assembling two specific cards and keeping both, which is clunky and removable
- Pillow-fort and fog effects blunt your entire plan
- No card advantage built in, so you can run out of gas
Key Cards
- Phyrexian Dragon Engine — The meld partner that transforms Mishra into a far more powerful threat with a devastating attack trigger.
- Impact Tremors — Adds incremental drain that stacks with going wide alongside Mishra's attack damage.
- Aggravated Assault — Extra combat steps mean extra Mishra triggers, doubling the drain and lifegain each loop.
- Krenko, Mob Boss — Floods the board with Goblins to maximize the attacker count for Mishra's drain.
- Breath of Fury — Chains combats off connecting tokens, generating repeated attack triggers for a potential kill.
Upgrade Path
Add efficient token generators and anthem effects to push attacker counts higher, plus repeatable extra-combat enablers (Aggravated Assault, Combat Celebrant, Breath of Fury) to multiply triggers. Layer in damage doublers and additional drain like Impact Tremors, Hellrider, and Fervor, and tighten the mana base with fast lands and rituals; include protection such as Heroic Intervention to survive board wipes that would otherwise undo your wide board.

Win Conditions
- ▸Symmetrical attack drain whittling all three opponents down each turn while you stay healthy
- ▸Chaining extra combats with Aggravated Assault or Breath of Fury for a single-turn kill
- ▸Melding into Mishra, Lost to Phyrexia and overwhelming with its enhanced trigger
- ▸Aristocrat/burn payoffs like Impact Tremors and Bitter Ordeal finishing weakened tables
Archetypes
- Tokens / Go-Wide Aggro — More attackers directly increases the X on Mishra's drain and lifegain each turn.
- Aristocrats — Sacrifice payoffs and token swarms pair with the drain to grind opponents from multiple angles.
- Extra Combats — Repeated attack triggers multiply Mishra's life loss and gain into a fast clock.
- Group Slug — Symmetrical and direct life-loss effects complement Mishra hitting all opponents simultaneously.
