Sokka, Lateral Strategist
The Commander
Whenever Sokka and at least one other creature attack, draw a card.
Guide
Gameplan
Sokka turns a wide board into a card-advantage engine: as long as Sokka and at least one other creature swing each combat, you draw a card. Build a UW go-wide tokens/Allies aggro deck that floods the board, attacks every turn for value, and converts the resulting card flow into more threats, anthems, and protection. Vigilance means Sokka keeps you safe on the crackback while still triggering.
Strengths
- Reliable repeatable card draw in colors that historically struggle for it
- Vigilance lets Sokka attack and still block, keeping the trigger online safely
- Synergizes with any token, Ally, or go-wide strategy already wanting bodies
- Low mana value (3) means early deployment and easy recasting after removal
Weaknesses
- Trigger depends on Sokka surviving and attacking, making him a removal magnet
- Only one card per combat unless you find extra combat steps
- UW lacks strong recursion, so heavy board wipes hit hard
- Relies on having a second attacker, so empty-board states stall the engine
Key Cards
- Aurelia, the Warleader — Extra combat step means a second Sokka trigger and another draw each turn.
- Combat Celebrant — Exerts for an additional combat phase, doubling Sokka's card draw.
- Skullclamp — Turns chump-attacking tokens into even more cards alongside Sokka's draw.
- Smothering Tithe — Fixes UW's mana and fuels casting the cards Sokka keeps drawing.
- Anointed Procession — Doubles your token output so you always have extra attackers for the trigger.
- Esper Sentinel — Stacks more card advantage on top of Sokka in a deck that wants to go wide.
Upgrade Path
Add efficient anthems and token doublers (Anointed Procession, Divine Visitation) plus extra-combat enablers (Aurelia, Combat Celebrant, Moraug if splashing) to multiply draws and damage. Improve mana with Smothering Tithe, fast rocks, and protection like Teferi's Protection and Heroic Intervention analogs to survive wipes. Tighten the curve and add card-conversion engines (Skullclamp, Esper Sentinel) so the deck snowballs even when Sokka is answered.

Win Conditions
- ▸Going wide with tokens behind anthems like Intangible Virtue or Cathars' Crusade
- ▸Overrun-style finishers such as Craterhoof Behemoth or Trumpet Blast effects
- ▸Repeated extra-combat alpha strikes fueled by Sokka's card advantage
- ▸Outvaluing the table into a flier or evasive beatdown
Archetypes
- Tokens — Wide boards guarantee a second attacker every combat to fire Sokka's draw.
- Allies/Tribal Aggro — Sokka is a Warrior Ally that rewards committing multiple creatures to combat.
- Extra Combats — Each additional combat with Sokka attacking nets another card.
- Aggro Midrange — Steady attacking pressure plus card flow grinds opponents out of resources.
