Why is this card good?
Talisman of Indulgence is premium two-color ramp, and the gold standard for fixing in Rakdos decks. The key reason it beats a basic Signet-comparison is that it taps for one mana, not requiring you to feed it mana first — meaning it accelerates from turn two into a turn-three four-drop, ahead of your commander curve.
The colorless option matters more than people realize: when you only need generic mana, you pay zero life. The 1-damage clause is trivial in most decks and a non-issue in Rakdos, where life is a resource you spend anyway.
Who wants it: essentially every BR or Mardu/Grixis/Jund deck — aristocrats, spellslinger, reanimator, anything wanting a fast clock. It's a staple, not a build-around.
When to skip it: mono-color decks (run a mana rock with broader utility), or extremely high life-loss lists where Arcane Signet/Fellwar Stone dodge the ping entirely. But that's a minor nitpick — in two-plus colors, run it almost always.
