Delina, Wild Mage
The Commander
Whenever Delina attacks, choose target creature you control, then roll a d20.
1—14 | Create a tapped and attacking token that's a copy of that creature, except it's not legendary and it has "At end of combat, exile this token."
15—20 | Create one of those tokens. You may roll again.
Guide
Gameplan
Delina turns combat into a copy engine: each attack lets you clone a creature you control, with high rolls chaining into multiple copies. Build around creatures with powerful enter-the-battlefield or attack triggers so each token generates value before it's exiled at end of combat. You grind toward a lethal swing or an explosive trigger-fueled turn.
Strengths
- Repeatable, free token generation that scales hard with extra combats and untap effects
- Mono-red consistency makes the mana base and budget easy
- Loves ETB-heavy creatures, turning Delina into a value/combo engine
- Tokens are non-legendary copies, so you can copy your best legendary creatures
Weaknesses
- Heavily reliant on Delina connecting in combat—removal or chump blocks stall the engine
- Tokens are exiled at end of combat, so board presence is temporary
- Mono-red lacks card draw, ramp, and interaction relative to other colors
- Low rolls (1-14) give only a single copy with no chain, making payoffs swingy
Key Cards
- Combat Celebrant — Its exert grants an extra combat, letting Delina trigger again for another round of copies.
- Aggravated Assault — Repeatable extra combats turn each Delina swing into a snowballing token engine.
- Terror of the Peaks — Copies deal direct damage on every token's ETB, converting clones into a burn finisher.
- Port Razer — Granting extra combats whenever it connects pairs perfectly with Delina's attack trigger.
- Moraug, Fury of Akoum — Landfall extra combats plus pumping your attackers makes copied tokens lethal.
- Ilharg, the Raze-Boar — A huge body whose copies cheat creatures into play and pump your team.
Upgrade Path
Add reliable extra-combat enablers (Aggravated Assault, Savage Beating, Moraug) and a free way to retrigger Delina, plus protection like Heroic Intervention or Boots/Greaves to keep her attacking. Tighten the curve toward impactful ETB creatures and burn-on-copy payoffs (Terror of the Peaks, Purphoros), and shore up red's weaknesses with rituals, impulse draw (Wheel of Misfortune, Outpost Siege), and artifact ramp to power out Delina ahead of curve.
