Fynn, the Fangbearer
The Commander
Deathtouch (Any amount of damage this deals to a creature is enough to destroy it.)
Whenever a creature you control with deathtouch deals combat damage to a player, that player gets two poison counters. (A player with ten or more poison counters loses the game.)
Guide
Gameplan
Fynn turns deathtouch creatures into poison machines—each combat hit gives a player two poison counters, so you only need five connections to kill someone via infect/poison. Load up on deathtouch creatures, grant deathtouch broadly, and push damage through with evasion, trample, or extra combats. Protect Fynn or keep enough redundancy that one good attack closes the game.
Strengths
- Extremely fast clock: five deathtouch hits (or fewer with doublers) kills a player regardless of life total
- Mono-green gives cheap, efficient ramp and resilient creatures
- Deathtouch creatures double as great blockers/removal, making the board hard to attack into
- Color identity allows easy access to deathtouch enablers and big mana
Weaknesses
- Heavily reliant on Fynn being on the battlefield; he's a 2-mana 1/1 that dies to everything
- Poison is a known threat—archenemy dynamics and instant-speed removal/fog stop you
- Mono-green struggles with interaction, card draw consistency, and answering combo/control
- Needs creatures to connect; ground stalls and blockers blunt the plan
Key Cards
- Fynn, the Fangbearer — The engine—every deathtouch combat hit becomes two poison counters, halving your clock.
- Bow of Nylea — Grants deathtouch to all your creatures, turning the whole team into Fynn enablers.
- Gorgon Flail — Cheap equipment that gives deathtouch and a buff to a chosen attacker.
- Rancor — Recurring trample makes deathtouch creatures punch through chumps and connect.
- Aggravated Assault — Extra combat steps stack poison fast, often killing a player in one turn.
- Nylea's Colossus — Doubles your power and tramples, but more importantly any deathtouch trampler ends games quickly with extra steps.
- Lurking Predators — Grindy value and free deathtouch bodies that keep pressure flowing.
Upgrade Path
Add evasion and trample enablers (Rancor, Whispersilk Cloak, Nylea's Colossus) so deathtouch creatures actually connect, plus extra-combat effects like Aggravated Assault and Seize the Day to compress the clock. Improve protection for Fynn and your attacker (Heroic Intervention, Snakeskin Veil, Lightning Greaves) and round out with efficient green interaction (Beast Within, Krosan Grip) and fast ramp (Sol Ring, mana dorks) to deploy threats and grant deathtouch a turn ahead of schedule.

Win Conditions
- ▸Connecting with deathtouch creatures for 10 poison counters (5 hits, or fewer with doublers)
- ▸Extra combat steps via Aggravated Assault or Combat Celebration to deal lethal poison in one turn
- ▸Going wide with deathtouch grants (Bow of Nylea) and swinging for multiple poison triggers
- ▸Voltron'd evasive deathtoucher with trample finishing a player quickly
Archetypes
- Poison/Infect Aggro — Fynn converts deathtouch damage into poison, letting a normal green beatdown win via the alternate poison kill.
- Voltron — Suiting up a single evasive deathtouch creature with trample and protection only needs five connections to win.
- Stax-lite/Pillow — A board of deathtouchers deters attacks while you assemble the poison kill at your leisure.
