Jegantha, the Wellspring
The Commander
Companion — No card in your starting deck has more than one of the same mana symbol in its mana cost. (If this card is your chosen companion, you may put it into your hand from outside the game for as a sorcery.)

. This mana can't be spent to pay generic mana costs.
Guide
Gameplan
Jegantha as a five-color commander ramps you into multicolored and generic-heavy spells, tapping for one of each color to fuel hungry activated abilities, ultimatums, and converge/sunburst payoffs. You play a flexible goodstuff midrange shell, using WUBRG mana to power expensive multicolor bombs and infinite-mana sinks. Most lists lean into the rainbow mana as a combo or value engine rather than a pure beatdown plan.
Strengths
- Fixes all five colors by itself, enabling truly any card in the format
- One mana of each color is perfect fuel for activated-ability mana sinks and converge/sunburst cards
- Cheap to recast at five mana and recurs as an instant ramp/fixing piece
- Five-color identity means access to the best removal, tutors, and bombs
Weaknesses
- Mana can't pay generic costs, sharply limiting what it ramps into
- Body does nothing offensively or defensively on its own
- Removal-magnet that you must keep recasting to keep value flowing
- Five-color manabases are greedy and clunky without proper fixing
Key Cards
- Jodah, Archmage Eternal — Lets you cast any spell with WUBRG, turning Jegantha's mana directly into free expensive bombs.
- Maze's End — A win condition fueled perfectly by rainbow mana and Gates support in five colors.
- Fist of Suns — Pairs with Jegantha's WUBRG output to cast anything, enabling commander-cost discounts and combos.
- Bringer of the Black Dawn — WUBRG-castable bomb that tutors every upkeep, the kind of payoff Jegantha enables.
- Cryptolith Rite — Turns creatures into any-color mana, deepening the rainbow-mana engine alongside Jegantha.
- Door to Nothingness — A WUBRG-activated alternate win condition that Jegantha can fuel directly.
Upgrade Path
Add premium fixing (fetchlands, duals, Triomes, mana rocks like Chromatic Lantern) so you aren't reliant on Jegantha to function. Lean into WUBRG-cost enablers (Fist of Suns, Jodah) and dedicated payoffs (Door to Nothingness, big planeswalkers) to make the rainbow mana matter. Tighten the curve and add tutors like Demonic Tutor and Enlightened Tutor to assemble your chosen win condition consistently.
