The Commander

Whenever you cast a multicolored spell, scry 1. If that spell was all colors, create a 4/4 white Angel creature token with flying and vigilance.

{5}, {T}: Add {W}{U}{B}{R}{G}.

Guide

Gameplan

Jenson is a 2-mana five-color value engine: jam multicolored spells to scry and smooth your draws, then ramp into a flood of WUBRG payoffs. The deck leans on a high density of multicolor and especially five-color cards to trigger card selection and pump out 4/4 Angels, eventually grinding the table out with raw card quality and a wide, evasive board.

Strengths

  • Access to all five colors means best-in-class removal, ramp, and answers
  • Cheap commander that immediately rewards a multicolor-heavy build with scry consistency
  • Free 4/4 flyers off every five-color spell add a token/go-wide axis
  • WUBRG mana ability fixes and powers expensive bombs and X-spells

Weaknesses

  • Five-color manabase is greedy and easily attacked by Blood Moon, Back to Basics, and land destruction
  • The WUBRG ability is slow and mana-hungry at five mana per activation
  • Commander itself is fragile and only provides incremental value, not a hard win
  • Can lack a focused finisher and durdle into a strong value pile without closing

Key Cards

  • Esika, God of the Tree // The Prismatic Bridge — Provides five-color fixing and a recurring engine that cheats your biggest WUBRG payoffs into play.
  • Jodah, the Unifier — Each legendary you cast is multicolored, snowballing scry triggers and free copies of your bombs.
  • Niv-Mizzet, Guildpact — A five-color bomb that triggers an Angel and draws a card for every color in spells you cast.
  • Chromatic Lantern — Turns your greedy manabase fully online so you can reliably cast multicolor spells every turn.
  • Smothering Tithe — White ramp that snowballs Treasures to fuel the expensive WUBRG payoffs and X-spells.
  • Cascading Cataracts — Indestructible five-color land that taps for WUBRG, perfect for casting all-colors spells.

Upgrade Path

Raise the multicolor density and add fast mana (Mana Crypt, Jeweled Lotus, Arcane Signet) plus premium five-color fixing like Prismatic Omen and The World Tree so triggers come online turn after turn. Add a tighter finisher package—Craterhoof Behemoth for the Angel route, or a compact combo like Thassa's Oracle/Demonic Consultation—and protect the greedy manabase with counterspells and ramp redundancy.

  • ▸Resolving a five-color bomb like Niv-Mizzet, Guildpact and drawing into overwhelming advantage
  • ▸Casting a huge X-spell or Torment of Hailfire fueled by the WUBRG ability
  • ▸Grinding the table out with superior card selection and a planeswalker ultimate

Archetypes

  • Five-Color Goodstuff — Jenson rewards packing the format's best multicolor cards while scrying you toward them every turn.
  • Superfriends/Control — All-color access plus card selection supports a planeswalker and removal-dense control plan backed by Angel blockers.
  • Tokens/Go-Wide — Repeatable 4/4 flying Angels off five-color spells give a credible aggressive board to pair with anthems.
  • Spellslinger Value — Casting a steady stream of multicolored spells turns scry triggers and payoffs like Niv-Mizzet into an engine.
