Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy
The Commander
Whenever you tap a nonland permanent for mana, add one mana of any type that permanent produced.
: Look at the top five cards of your library. You may put a non-Human creature card from among them onto the battlefield. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
Guide
Gameplan
Kinnan doubles mana from every nonland mana source, letting you explode into huge plays well ahead of curve. You ramp with mana dorks and rocks, generate absurd amounts of mana, then convert it into a combo finish or activate Kinnan's ability to cheat out fat non-Human creatures. The deck wins by snowballing mana into game-ending engines before opponents stabilize.
Strengths
- Explosive, accelerated mana that fuels combos and big spells turns ahead of the table
- Doubles infinite-mana-adjacent dorks (Basalt Monolith, Grand Architect) into hard combos
- Commander itself is a tutor/cheat engine for non-Human bombs
- Compact two-mana commander that comes down early and pays off immediately
Weaknesses
- Heavily reliant on mana dorks/rocks that die to common board wipes and artifact/creature removal
- Kinnan is a removal magnet; losing him often collapses the engine
- Two colors limits access to powerful interaction and tutors compared to four/five-color decks
- Can stumble against fast aggro or heavy stax that punishes the mana-dork shell
Key Cards
- Basalt Monolith — With Kinnan it taps for 6, paying its own untap cost for infinite colorless mana.
- Grand Architect — Untaps a Kinnan-doubled blue creature for infinite mana with the right pieces.
- Freed from the Real — Enchant a mana dork to make infinite mana off Kinnan's doubling.
- Thrasios, Triton Hero — A perfect mana sink that turns infinite mana into infinite card draw and a win.
- Bloom Tender — Doubled by Kinnan it produces enormous mana, often four-plus per tap.
- Cyclonic Rift — Premier blue overloaded reset that protects your engine and clears blockers to close.
Upgrade Path
Lean into the infinite-mana package: add Basalt Monolith, Pemmin's Aura/Freed from the Real, and a clean payoff like Walking Ballista, Thrasios, or Finale of Devastation. Improve the mana base with fast rocks (Mana Vault, Mana Crypt) and add efficient interaction (Force of Negation, Swan Song, Pact of Negation) to protect your turns. Top-end tutors like Mystical Tutor and Worldly Tutor make the combos far more consistent.
