Omo, Queen of Vesuva
The Commander
Whenever Omo enters or attacks, put an everything counter on each of up to one target land and up to one target creature.
Each land with an everything counter on it is every land type in addition to its other types.
Each nonland creature with an everything counter on it is every creature type.
Guide
Gameplan
Omo turns one land into a do-anything five-color source and one creature into a member of every tribe each time she enters or attacks, fueling both perfect mana and typal payoffs. Early game you ramp and fix with everything-counter lands while developing a typal board; mid-game you stack lords and anthems on creatures that now count as every type. You close with a wide, pumped tribal board or a single oversized threat carrying every keyword's worth of buffs.
Strengths
- Free, repeatable five-color mana fixing—any land with an everything counter taps for all colors and fetches as every type.
- Turns a normal board into a typal powerhouse, so even mono-tribal lords and anthems hit everything.
- Cheap, recursive value engine: she re-targets every time she attacks or re-enters from the command zone.
- Plays well with proliferate, doubling the counters and your payoffs.
Weaknesses
- Counters can be removed (Hex Parasite, Vampire Hexmage) or the creature simply killed, undoing the typal stacking.
- Each trigger only hits one land and one creature, so it scales slowly without proliferate.
- Pure GU lacks reach and direct win cons—you must build toward combat or a combo finish.
- Board wipes are brutal since the value is concentrated on your creatures.
Key Cards
- Maskwood Nexus — Permanently makes all your creatures every type, supercharging lords and freeing Omo to target lands.
- Coat of Arms — With everything counters every creature shares all types, so each one gets an enormous pump.
- Kindred Discovery — Naming any type draws cards off every creature you play or attack with once they're all types.
- Vanquisher's Banner — Turns your whole board into a draw engine since every creature counts as the named type.
- Inexorable Tide — Proliferate lets you spread everything counters far faster than Omo alone.
- Door of Destinies — Stacks counters and pumps your entire all-type board into a lethal threat.
- Vesuva — On-theme land that copies your best land, and with an everything counter becomes a perfect five-color source.
- Ashaya, Soul of the Wild — Makes nontoken creatures Forests, combining with everything counters for ramp and untap shenanigans.
Upgrade Path
Add proliferate enablers (Flux Channeler, Evolution Sage, Tezzeret's Gambit) to multiply everything counters and accelerate your payoffs. Lean into a clear finisher—Craterhoof Behemoth, Finale of Devastation, or Pathbreaker Ibex—plus tutors (Worldly Tutor, Chord of Calling) to find Maskwood Nexus reliably. Tighten the mana with fast rocks and protection (Heroic Intervention, Lightning Greaves) so a wipe doesn't reset your concentrated board.

- +1/+1 Counters & Proliferate — Simic proliferate spreads everything counters while doubling as a counters-matter subtheme.
- Combo — All-type creatures and lands enable engine pieces and tribal-combo payoffs like Kindred Discovery loops.
