Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh
The Commander
First strike, menace, trample
Partner (You can have two commanders if both have partner.)
Guide
Gameplan
Rograkh is a free, recurring body that you turn into a lethal threat with equipment and pump, or that you use purely as a 'second commander' to bolt onto a partner. Cast him for 0, suit up over a turn or two, and swing with first strike/menace/trample to push commander damage or close fast. Because he costs nothing, he's also a perfect Voltron platform and a free sacrifice/attack fodder enabler.
Strengths
- Costs 0 mana and rejoins the battlefield cheaply after dying, dodging commander tax pressure
- First strike, menace, and trample make him an efficient evasive Voltron carrier for commander damage
- Partner lets you pair him with any partner for a tailored second color and strategy
- Excellent free creature for sacrifice synergies, convoke, and attack triggers
Weaknesses
- 0 base power means he does nothing without equipment, auras, or pump—pure setup investment
- Highly vulnerable to removal that two-for-ones you with your attached gear
- Loses tempo if your equipment package is disrupted or your hand is empty
- Mono-red on his own offers limited interaction and card advantage
Key Cards
- Embercleave — Cheap to cast off an attacking board and instantly makes Rograkh a double-striking, trampling one-shot threat.
- Fireshrieker — Grants double strike, doubling commander damage and pump effects on an evasive body.
- Sword of Feast and Famine — Untaps your lands to keep building and combines protection with unblockable-style evasion through menace.
- Colossus Hammer — Turns a 0-power Kobold into a 10/10 trampler for one mana, the cleanest payoff for him.
- Sigarda's Aid — Flashes in equipment and auto-attaches it at instant speed for surprise Voltron kills.
Upgrade Path
Choose a partner that defines a real engine—Silas Renn for value, Tana for tokens, or Tymna/Kraum for card draw—so Rograkh isn't carrying the deck alone. Tighten the equipment suite toward cheap, evasive payoffs (Colossus Hammer, Embercleave, the Swords) and add tutors like Stoneforge Mystic, Open the Armory, and Steelshaper's Gift. Round out with protection (Swiftfoot Boots, Lightning Greaves) and fast mana to deploy threats a turn ahead of removal.

Win Conditions
- ▸Commander damage with stacked equipment granting double strike and trample
- ▸One-shot kills via Embercleave or Colossus Hammer plus pump
- ▸Partner-driven strategy with Rograkh as supplementary pressure or fodder
- ▸Grinding aristocrats value into a sacrifice-based finish
Archetypes
- Voltron — His evasive keywords and free cost make him an ideal equipment/aura carrier for commander-damage kills.
- Aristocrats — A 0-mana recastable creature is endless fodder for sacrifice and death-trigger engines.
- Partner Goodstuff — He's essentially a free second commander, letting his partner define the deck's real strategy.
- Aggro — Cheap, evasive, and recursive, he fits go-wide or beatdown shells that pressure life totals early.
