Squee, the Immortal
The Commander
You may cast this card from your graveyard or from exile.
Guide
Gameplan
Squee, the Immortal is a mono-red commander that wins by abusing his repeatable recursion from graveyard and exile. He's free fuel for sacrifice outlets, discard/madness engines, and pseudo-vehicle/equipment carriers, letting you grind value or assemble loops that other decks can't break through. Turn to turn you cast Squee, sacrifice or discard him, and recast him forever to feed your engines.
Strengths
- Endless sacrifice/discard fodder that can't be permanently removed
- Excellent for combo loops needing a recurring creature (he survives exile)
- Cheap, resilient commander immune to graveyard hate and tuck effects
- Fits aggressive, aristocrats, and combo shells equally well
Weaknesses
- Mono-red lacks card advantage and interaction outside of damage-based removal
- Squee himself does nothing without supporting outlets/engines
- Recasting repeatedly racks up commander tax quickly
- Vulnerable to graveyard exile via flicker only if he's also exiled by your own effects (otherwise fine), and to creature lockdown like Cursed Totem on sac abilities
Key Cards
- Goblin Bombardment — Free sacrifice outlet that turns endless Squee recasts into repeatable direct damage.
- Skirk Prospector — Sacrifices Squee for mana, enabling ritual-style ramp and infinite-ish recast loops.
- Ashnod's Altar — Converts Squee into colorless mana repeatedly, fueling loops and outlets.
- Birgi, God of Storytelling — Makes mana every time you cast Squee, powering storm and recast loops.
- Squee's Embrace — Thematic, but more importantly aura/equipment-style payoffs love a recurring body to carry them.
- Mortician Beetle — Grows huge off repeated Squee sacrifices to become a beatdown threat.
Upgrade Path
Add tutors and free sac/mana outlets (Phyrexian Altar, Krark-Clan Ironworks, Mana Echoes) to assemble compact two-card combos with Squee. Lean into fast mana like Jeska's Will, Ruby Medallion, and rituals to outpace commander tax, and include burn-based interaction such as Abrade and Vandalblast to protect your engine. To push power further, build toward a deterministic loop (Squee + Skirk Prospector + Mana Echoes or Bombardment) backed by strong card draw like Wheel of Fortune.

- Combo — His castability from exile makes him the recurring piece for mana/damage loops with free sac outlets.
- Spellslinger/Storm — Recasting Squee each turn triggers cast-matters payoffs like Birgi and Grapeshot fodder.
- Madness/Discard — Discarding Squee for value is free since you simply recast him from the graveyard.
