The Commander

Whenever Stangg attacks, create Stangg Twin, a legendary 3/4 red and green Human Warrior creature token. It enters tapped and attacking. For each Aura and Equipment attached to Stangg, create a token that's a copy of it attached to Stangg Twin. Sacrifice all tokens created this way at the beginning of the next end step.

Guide

Gameplan

Suit up Stangg with Auras and Equipment, then swing each turn to spawn Stangg Twin with copies of every attached buff, effectively doubling your attack for one combat. You win by turning a single voltron threat into two huge hasty attackers that close games fast.

Strengths

  • Doubles all your Aura/Equipment effects on attack, including powerful triggers like double strike, trample, and combat damage abilities
  • Generates a hasty 3/4+ body every combat for free, great for go-wide pressure and chip damage
  • Cheap 4-mana commander that demands answers quickly and recovers fast since the twin is expendable
  • Can punish blockers by presenting two large threats that must both be dealt with

Weaknesses

  • Auras and Equipment make you vulnerable to two-for-one removal and disenchant effects
  • Stangg himself is a removal magnet; killing him mid-combat or before attacks ends the engine
  • The token copies sacrifice at end step, so you must capitalize during your own turn
  • Requires Stangg to connect, so flyers, deathtouch blockers, and Fog effects slow you down
  • Vulnerable to board wipes that wipe your whole investment

Key Cards

  • Fireshrieker — Granting double strike copies onto the twin makes both attackers hit twice for explosive damage.
  • Grafted Exoskeleton — Infect plus a copy means two poison-laden attackers can knock out players in a swing or two.
  • Rancor — Cheap, recurs from the graveyard, and the copied Rancor gives the twin trample too.
  • Colossus Hammer — Massive +10/+10 buff copied onto the twin creates two lethal threats for cheap mana with reduced equip cost enablers.
  • Sigarda's Aid — Flash in Equipment and attach for free at instant speed, enabling surprise attacks and protection.
  • Embercleave — Cost-reduced double strike finisher whose copy makes both Stangg and his twin deal doubled trample damage.
  • Shadowspear — Trample and lifelink plus the ability to strip hexproof/indestructible from blockers, copied for both attackers.

Upgrade Path

Lean into cheap, high-impact Equipment over fragile Auras for resilience, and add equip-cost reducers like Puresteel Paladin, Brass Squire, and Sigarda's Aid to attach for free. Include trample and evasion enablers so Stangg always connects, plus protection like Swiftfoot Boots and Heroic Intervention to survive removal and wipes. Anthem-style token doublers such as Adric, Mathematical Genius or extra-combat spells like Aggravated Assault push damage output dramatically higher.

Core Cards

  • ▸Infect/poison via copied Grafted Exoskeleton or Glistening Oil on two attackers

Archetypes

  • Voltron — Stangg loads up on Auras and Equipment and copies them onto a second attacker each combat.
  • Equipment Aggro — Equipment is more resilient than Auras and gets duplicated freely onto the twin every attack.
  • Aggro/Go-Wide — The recurring hasty token plus token doublers turn each combat into multiple bodies pressuring the table.
