Toggo, Goblin Weaponsmith
The Commander
Landfall — Whenever a land you control enters, create a colorless Equipment artifact token named Rock with "Equipped creature has ',
, Sacrifice Rock: This creature deals 2 damage to any target'" and equip
.
Partner (You can have two commanders if both have partner.)
Guide
Gameplan
Toggo turns every land drop into a Rock token Equipment that fires for 2 damage, so you ramp and play extra lands to flood the board with cheap removal and direct-damage artifacts. You grind out value while pinging creatures, planeswalkers, and faces, then convert your pile of Rocks into either a big artifact payoff or a burst of damage. As a partner commander, he's usually paired with a green partner (Jaheira, Friend of the Forest) to enable extra land drops and tons of mana.
Strengths
- Repeatable removal and reach: each land = a 2-damage Equipment you can sacrifice at will
- Cheap, resilient artifact/token engine that fuels sacrifice, artifact-matters, and treasure-like payoffs
- Mono-red commander that loves extra land drops, ramp, and recursion—easy to support
- Partner gives access to a second color and doubles your value/strategy options
Weaknesses
- Slow without extra land drops; relying on natural land draws is grindy
- Each Rock costs mana to equip and
to fire, so it's mana-hungry to convert into wins
- Board wipes and artifact removal (Vandalblast, Bane of Progress) erase your Rocks
- Mono-red color identity alone lacks card advantage and interaction outside partner help
Key Cards
Upgrade Path
Add cheap extra-land-drop enablers (Exploration, Burgeoning, Azusa) and fetchlands so you make multiple Rocks each turn, then layer damage doublers (Torbran, Thane of Red Fell; Fiery Emancipation) and equip/token doublers like Sigarda's Aid, Anointed Procession effects, and Krenko-style token payoffs. Round it out with artifact sacrifice synergies (Reckless Fireweaver, Disciple of the Vault, Marionette Master) and recursion (Crucible of Worlds, Ramunap Excavator) to make the engine inevitable; pick a green partner like Jaheira, Friend of the Forest for ramp and extra drops.keyCards

Win Conditions
- ▸Mass Rock damage amplified by Torbran or Fiery Emancipation to burn out the table
- ▸Equip-cost reduction plus token doubling to fire dozens of 2-damage shots in one turn
- ▸Artifact payoffs like Marionette Master or Reckless Fireweaver draining life as Rocks are made and sacrificed
- ▸Partner-enabled go-wide or big-mana finisher backed by Toggo's removal
Archetypes
- Artifacts (Tokens) — Every landfall trigger churns out colorless Equipment tokens you can double, copy, and exploit.
- Aristocrats / Sacrifice — Rocks are free sacrifice fodder, so sac-payoffs and recursion turn each token into value and damage.
- Lands / Landfall — Extra land drops directly multiply your Rock output, making fetchlands and ramp into removal engines.
- Spellslinger Burn — Stacked Rocks plus damage doublers convert into a lethal burst aimed at faces.
