When Yosei dies, target player skips their next untap step. Tap up to five target permanents that player controls.
Yosei is a Stax-leaning prison commander: repeatedly sacrifice and recur her so a single opponent skips untap steps while five of their permanents stay tapped, effectively locking them out of the game. You grind value with white's strong recursion and sacrifice loops, then either hard-lock the table one player at a time or pivot to a combo finish. Early turns build mana and recursion engines; mid-game you assemble a sac outlet plus a reanimation/blink loop.
Creates a brutal soft-lock when looped with a sac outlet and recursion (skip untap + tap five permanents)
Cheap to recur in mono-white via reanimation, blink, and graveyard recursion
Evasive 5/5 flyer that pressures life totals even outside of combos
Mono-white gives access to the best stax, taxes, and board wipes to back up the lock
The 'Yosei lock' only neutralizes one opponent at a time, leaving the other two free in a four-player pod
Mono-white is color-screwed on card draw and ramp
Vulnerable to graveyard hate that shuts off recursion loops
Needs multiple pieces (sac outlet + recursion) before the engine comes online; clunky when assembling
