What it does

Haste lets a creature attack and use abilities with the tap symbol the moment it comes under your control, ignoring "summoning sickness." Normally a creature must start your turn under your control before it can attack or tap for costs; haste removes that restriction. The most common misunderstanding: summoning sickness never stopped a creature from blocking, and it never stopped activating abilities that don't require tapping (or untapping). Haste only matters for attacking and for abilities with {T} or {Q} in the cost. Also, haste only needs to be present when you want to act—if it grants haste, attacks, then loses haste, that's fine. In Commander, haste is huge for surprise commanders, big finishers, and mana-tappers like Dockside Extortionist or creatures with built-in {T} effects. It enables explosive turns and lets you swing before opponents can react.
