Why is this card good?
Big Score is one of red's best "draw plus ramp" instants, and that combination is exactly why it's so widely played.
For 4 mana you draw two cards and net two Treasures, effectively refunding two mana while fixing colors and enabling explosive turns. The discard is genuinely upside in the right shells — pitch a fattie or a flashback/escape card instead of a dead draw.
Wants it:
- Any red deck needing card advantage (red's traditional weakness).
- Artifacts/Treasure synergy decks: Treasures feed sacrifice payoffs, affinity, and improvise.
- Storm/spellslinger decks: instant speed, ritual-adjacent mana, and a card-draw count.
- Big-mana ramp commanders (Prosper, Magda, Mr. House) that monetize Treasures.
When NOT to play it: Low-curve aggro decks that don't care about Treasures or card advantage get a better deal from cheaper draw. The discard also stings if your hand is empty or all gas — it's worst when you're behind.
A flexible, near-default include for any red midrange or combo deck.
