Why is this card good?

Hedge Maze is a quietly excellent Simic dual land that earns its slot in nearly any GU deck. The key word is "Forest Island" — it's a true dual type, meaning it fetches with Misty Rainforest, Flooded Strand, Breeding Pool-style searches, and triggers landfall/domain synergies. That typing alone makes it strictly better than a generic tapland for fetch-heavy manabases. The surveil 1 ETB is small but real value: it smooths draws, fixes your top card, and enables graveyard strategies. In reanimator, self-mill, or spellslinger decks running delve/escape/flashback, dumping a fatty or instant is genuine upside. Want it in: any Simic deck, especially fetch-based mana, graveyard-centric builds (Muldrotha, The Mimeoplasm), or value-oriented midrange. Skip it when: you're playing a fast, low-curve or cEDH list where entering tapped is a real tempo cost and you'd rather run untapped duals or basics. The tapland clause is the only downside, but in slower 100-card games it rarely matters. A safe, low-opportunity-cost include.
