Why is this card good?
Why it's good: Two-mana rocks that ramp into your three-drop commander on turn two are the gold standard of Commander fixing, and Talisman of Progress is one of the best for UW decks. It accelerates you a full turn ahead, fixes both your colors, and taps for colorless when you don't need the damage — that flexibility matters more than people give it credit for.
Who wants it: Any two-color (or Bant/Esper/Jeskai) deck running white and blue. It's especially valuable in spellslinger, control, blink, and artifact decks that want fast, consistent mana to set up engines. Commanders that hit hard on turn three benefit most.
When to skip it: The 1 damage is real in aggressive multiplayer pods or against burn/Punishing Fire effects — though usually trivial. More importantly, don't run it in heavy lands-matter or Signet-only builds, and skip Talismans if your curve is low enough that ramp doesn't meaningfully accelerate your gameplan. Otherwise, it's a near-auto-include.
