Kemba, Kha Regent
The Commander
At the beginning of your upkeep, create a 2/2 white Cat creature token for each Equipment attached to Kemba.
Guide
Gameplan
Kemba turns Equipment into a token engine: load her up with cheap and powerful gear, then generate a 2/2 Cat army every upkeep that snowballs into lethal swings or sacrifice fodder. You ramp into Equipment, protect Kemba, and either go wide with anthems or go tall by suiting her up as a Voltron threat.
Strengths
- Self-contained token engine that needs no other creatures to start producing
- Equipment doubles as both an army and personal protection/evasion
- Mono-white access to the deepest pool of anthems, Equipment tutors, and board wipes
- Flexible win paths: go wide, go tall, or pivot to aristocrats
Weaknesses
- Heavily commander-dependent; if Kemba dies tokens stop and Equipment becomes vulnerable
- Slow start if you draw gear without the body, or vice versa
- Mono-white struggles with card draw and ramp relative to other colors
- Equipment-matters strategies fold hard to artifact removal and board wipes
Key Cards
- Puresteel Paladin — Free Equipment attachment with metalcraft lets you suit up Kemba explosively and draw on each Equipment cast.
- Sigarda's Aid — Flash in Equipment and attach for free, enabling surprise blocks and instant-speed army growth.
- Stoneforge Mystic — Tutors your best Equipment to hand and cheats it into play attached to Kemba.
- Swiftfoot Boots — Cheap Equipment that grants hexproof and haste while also adding to your Cat count.
- Cathars' Crusade — Every Cat token enters with a +1/+1 counter trigger, snowballing the board into lethal fast.
- Skullclamp — Turns excess 2/2 Cats and counter-pumped tokens into a relentless card-draw engine.
Upgrade Path
Prioritize free or near-free attach effects (Puresteel Paladin, Sigarda's Aid, Leonin Shikari) and protection (Lightning Greaves, Whispersilk Cloak) so Kemba survives and snowballs. Add white's best ramp and card draw (Smothering Tithe, Esper Sentinel, Land Tax) plus token payoffs like Anointed Procession to double output. Top end with Equipment tutors (Stoneforge Mystic, Steelshaper's Gift) and a clean finisher such as Felidar Retreat or an overrun effect.
