Neheb, the Eternal
The Commander
Afflict 3 (Whenever this creature becomes blocked, defending player loses 3 life.)
At the beginning of each of your postcombat main phases, add for each 1 life your opponents have lost this turn.
Guide
Gameplan
Deal damage to opponents in combat or with burn, then untap into your postcombat main phase with a flood of red mana to chain big X-spells, double-spell burn, and explosive haymakers. Neheb turns every point of life opponents lose into ramp, so the more they bleed the more mana you generate. Close games by converting that mana into overwhelming damage in one or two turns.
Strengths
- Generates absurd mana in mono-red, enabling X-spells and double spells normally locked behind big mana decks
- Afflict 3 means he's hard to profitably block and adds to your own ramp engine
- Snowballs fast once any source of opponent life loss is in play
- Mono-red consistency and access to strong tutors/wheel effects
Weaknesses
- Mana only appears in your second main phase, so it's awkward for instant-speed interaction and disappears at end of turn
- Does nothing the turn he enters unless opponents already lost life
- Color-locked into red's poor answers to enchantments and resilient creatures
- Vulnerable to lifegain and fog effects that blank his payoff
Key Cards
- Fireball — Premier mana sink that converts Neheb's red flood directly into lethal damage or multi-target removal.
- Comet Storm — Instant-speed multi-target X burn that exploits the postcombat mana to finish multiple opponents.
- Aggravated Assault — Extra combat steps mean more afflict triggers, more damage, and more Neheb mana to refuel the loop.
- Bonus Round — Doubling your spells with a massive mana pool turns one burn spell into a game-ending salvo.
- Sword of Feast and Famine — Untaps your lands when Neheb connects, stacking even more mana onto his postcombat trigger.
- Wheel of Fortune — Refills your hand to dump the explosive mana into a fresh batch of spells.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana and rituals (Jeska's Will, Mana Geyser) plus damage doublers like Fiery Emancipation and Torbran to multiply both the life loss and the mana payoff. Lean into extra-combat enablers (Savage Ventmaw, World at War) and reliable evasion equipment to guarantee afflict triggers. Tighten the curve with strong tutors and wheels so you always have a mana sink ready when Neheb's pool comes online.

Win Conditions
- ▸One huge X-burn spell like Fireball or Comet Storm to the dome
- ▸Infinite combat loops (Aggravated Assault + sufficient Neheb mana) for combat damage
- ▸Doubling effects (Bonus Round, Fork-style spells) turning burn into multi-opponent lethal
Archetypes
- Spellslinger / Burn — Neheb's mana fuels chains of X-burn and double-spell turns to nuke the table.
- Combo — Extra-combat and untap loops with Aggravated Assault or Savage Ventmaw create infinite mana and attacks.
- Big Mana Ramp — He functions as a ritual engine, enabling oversized spells far above red's normal curve.
