Rashmi, Eternities Crafter
The Commander
Whenever you cast your first spell each turn, reveal the top card of your library. You may cast it without paying its mana cost if it's a spell with lesser mana value. If you don't cast it, put it into your hand.
Guide
Gameplan
Rashmi turns your first spell each turn into card advantage or a free spell, snowballing into bigger threats and value engines. You durdle through the early game with ramp and interaction, then cast a single spell to trigger Rashmi each turn—ideally on opponents' turns—and ride the accumulating advantage. Close with an X-spell, big finisher, or a value-driven control grind.
Strengths
- Generates free spells and card advantage every single turn for just one trigger
- Color identity gives access to the best ramp, card draw, and counterspells
- Rewards instant-speed play, letting you hold up interaction while still triggering
- Scales well from casual tables to higher-power value/control builds
Weaknesses
- Trigger only fires on your FIRST spell, so multi-spell turns waste the engine
- Whiffs on lands or equal/greater MV cards on top of your library
- No built-in win condition—needs the deck to provide closers
- Fragile body that demands recasting after removal, and ramps toward commander tax
Key Cards
- Cyclonic Rift — Premier blue reset that swings games once Rashmi has built your board advantage.
- Mystic Remora — Cheap repeatable card draw that fuels and replaces the spells you cast each turn.
- Rhystic Study — Engine card advantage that keeps your hand full to feed Rashmi every turn.
- Ezuri's Predation — High-MV bomb maximizes the value gap so cheaper top cards cast for free off Rashmi.
- Expansion // Explosion — Flexible X finisher that triggers Rashmi while drawing cards and burning out a table.
- Beast Within — Color-fixed catch-all removal that doubles as a reliable Rashmi trigger at instant speed.
Upgrade Path
Lean into low-curve interaction and card draw so you reliably cast one impactful spell per turn cycle—prioritize instants to trigger Rashmi on opponents' turns. Add fast mana (Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, Mana Drain) and tutors to find your finisher faster, and include a tight combo package (e.g., extra-turn loops or Mystic Sanctuary recursion) to convert the card advantage into actual wins. Trim do-nothing high-MV spells that don't advance the game so Rashmi's free casts stay relevant.

Win Conditions
- ▸Massive X-spell like Expansion // Explosion or Blue Sun's Zenith
- ▸Grinding opponents out with overwhelming card and board advantage then beating down
- ▸Assembling an extra-turn or Mystic Sanctuary loop for inevitability
- ▸A finisher creature or overrun effect after stabilizing the board
Archetypes
- Value Control — Rashmi's free spells plus Simic counters and card draw let you out-grind the table.
- Spellslinger — A deck full of instants and sorceries maximizes triggers and free casts each turn.
- Big-Mana Ramp — Ramping into high-MV spells widens the gap so Rashmi consistently casts the revealed card free.
- Combo — Card advantage and counterspell protection assemble and shield engines like Mystic Sanctuary loops or extra-turn chains.
