Guide
Gameplan
Samut is a Naya beatdown/combo commander who hastes your team and untaps key creatures. Deploy big threats and swing immediately, using Samut's untap ability to abuse tap-effect creatures or push extra combat value. You either go wide/tall with haste-enabled aggression or assemble an untap-based combo to close fast.
Strengths
- Grants haste to your whole board, removing summoning sickness for big creatures and Craterhoof-style finishers
- Flash lets her ambush attackers or deploy at instant speed for surprise blocks
- Double strike, vigilance, and haste make her an immediate threat herself
- Untap ability enables powerful combos and value engines with tap-cost creatures
Weaknesses
- Five mana and very vulnerable to spot removal as a beatdown enabler
- No card advantage built in — can run out of gas
- Untap ability needs white mana, a tap, and untargetable haste setup to truly shine
- Naya lacks reliable interaction and recursion compared to other color combos
Key Cards
- Craterhoof Behemoth — Haste from Samut turns it into an immediate game-ending alpha strike.
- Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker — Samut untaps Kiki for repeatable copies, and her haste means tokens attack instantly.
- Pemmin's Aura — With an untapper engine you can generate infinite mana or activations on the right creature.
- Selvala, Heart of the Wilds — Untap her each turn for explosive ramp toward huge creatures.
- Sword of Feast and Famine — Untaps lands and grants pseudo-protection on a hasty double-striking attacker.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana (Sol Ring, mana dorks) and tutors (Worldly Tutor, Green Sun's Zenith) to consistently land payoffs early. Lean into a dedicated combo line like Kiki-Jiki plus a copyable untapper, and include protection such as Heroic Intervention and Lightning Greaves. Round out with efficient removal and card draw (Beast Whisperer, Guardian Project) to fix Naya's gas and interaction gaps.
