Sidisi, Undead Vizier
The Commander
Deathtouch
Exploit (When this creature enters, you may sacrifice a creature.)
When Sidisi exploits a creature, you may search your library for a card, put it into your hand, then shuffle.
Guide
Gameplan
Sidisi turns one creature sacrifice into a Demonic Tutor stapled to a 4/6 deathtouch body, letting you assemble combos or grab answers on demand. You ramp into Sidisi by turn 4-5, exploit a token or expendable creature for the tutor, and recur her with reanimation to repeat the effect. Close the game by tutoring up a combo piece or finisher.
Strengths
- Repeatable unconditional tutoring fixes consistency and finds combos
- Deathtouch makes a strong defensive blocker that trades up
- Synergizes with cheap tokens and sacrifice-fodder for free value
- Mono-black gives access to the best tutors, ramp, and reanimation
Weaknesses
- Single color limits ramp speed, card draw, and interaction breadth
- Tutoring telegraphs your plan and invites removal
- Relies on having fodder to exploit, so empty boards weaken her
- Commander tax and removal can make recasting expensive
Key Cards
- Demonic Tutor — Mirrors Sidisi's effect and helps find any combo piece or answer.
- Phyrexian Tower — Provides reliable sac fodder synergy and ramp off the creature you exploit.
- Reanimate — Cheaply returns Sidisi for repeated exploit tutors after she dies.
- Pitiless Plunderer — Generates treasures off exploited creatures to fuel further plays.
- Victimize — Doubles as recursion and fodder generation to retrigger exploit.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana like Dark Ritual and Cabal Coffers/Nykthos to deploy Sidisi early and recast her cheaply. Tighten the deck around a compact combo (Mikaeus + Ballista, or Karmic Guide loops) so every tutor finds a winning line. Improve recursion and protection with cards like Sheoldred, Whispering One, Malakir Rebirth, and counterspell-style protection via Imp's Mischief to defend key turns.
