The Commander

Menace

Other enchantment creatures you control have menace.

Whenever Anikthea enters or attacks, exile up to one target non-Aura enchantment card from your graveyard. Create a token that's a copy of that card, except it's a 3/3 black Zombie creature in addition to its other types.

Guide

Gameplan

Fill your graveyard with powerful enchantments, then use Anikthea's enter/attack triggers to repeatedly reanimate them as 3/3 Zombie enchantment creature copies. Each trigger snowballs value and a wide, menacing board, and because the copies are enchantment creatures they all gain menace and feed your enchantress engines. You grind opponents out with overwhelming card advantage and beat down with an evasive token army.

Strengths

  • Repeatable, hard-to-interact value engine that turns dead enchantments into 3/3 bodies every combat
  • Reanimates from graveyard so it dodges much creature removal and benefits from self-mill
  • Excellent in Abzan colors with deep enchantress and recursion support
  • Token copies are full enchantment creatures, triggering constellation, enchantress, and sacrifice payoffs
  • Built-in menace plus team menace makes blocking and stax hard to assemble against you

Weaknesses

  • Graveyard hate (Rest in Peace, Bojuka Bog) shuts off the engine entirely
  • Needs setup turns to load the yard before Anikthea becomes powerful
  • Commander-dependent; without her on the battlefield the deck stalls
  • Targets only non-Aura enchantment cards, limiting which permanents you can copy
  • Board wipes can be devastating since the strategy goes wide

Key Cards

  • Doomwake GiantReanimating it as an enchantment creature creates a recurring board wipe against tokens and small creatures every attack.
  • Sun TitanNot an enchantment, but token copy targets must be enchantments—instead use it as a recursion staple is wrong; skip.
  • Starfield of NyxTurns all your enchantments into creatures, fueling Anikthea's anthem and recurring dead enchantments from your graveyard.
  • Enchantress's PresenceEach enchantment-creature token you make and every enchantment you cast draws cards, snowballing the engine.
  • Eidolon of BlossomsConstellation card draw triggers off every token copy and enchantment you play, refilling your hand.
  • Underworld BreachHelps reuse exiled and graveyard pieces and enables explosive combo turns alongside cheap enchantments.
  • Ashnod's AltarSacrifices token copies for mana and recasts Anikthea or fuels aristocrat combos and reanimation loops.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana and ramp (Sol Ring, Smothering Tithe, Wild Growth) to deploy Anikthea early, and prioritize self-mill and discard outlets like Stitcher's Supplier and Buried Alive to stock impactful enchantments fast. Include protection (Heroic Intervention, Teferi's Protection) and recursion for Anikthea, then add powerful enchantment payoffs like Smothering Tithe, Trouble in Pairs, and combo lines with Ashnod's Altar plus drain effects to push toward a tighter, faster kill.
