Iroas, God of Victory
The Commander
Indestructible
As long as your devotion to red and white is less than seven, Iroas isn't a creature.
Creatures you control have menace.
Prevent all damage that would be dealt to attacking creatures you control.
Guide
Gameplan
Iroas turns every combat into a one-sided beating: your attackers can't be killed by blockers and have menace, so opponents struggle to chump or trade profitably. Flood the board with creatures, swing wide every turn, and convert combat damage into wins through go-wide buffs or evasive aggression. As an indestructible commander he's hard to remove and cheap to recast.
Strengths
- Attacking creatures take zero combat damage, making attacks essentially risk-free and crushing in chaos battles
- Menace on your whole board forces double-blocks, neutralizing single chump blockers
- Indestructible, low-cost commander that's resilient to most removal
- Excellent at forcing favorable combat math against multiple opponents
Weaknesses
- Iroas only protects attackers, not blockers, leaving you open on opponents' turns
- Vulnerable to board wipes that exile or use -X/-X since your creatures aren't protected outside combat
- Doesn't draw cards or generate card advantage on its own
- Flyers, deathtouch isn't an issue but non-combat removal and fog effects slow you down
- Devotion requirement means Iroas is often not even a creature early
Key Cards
- Iroas's Blessing — Cheap aura that grants flying or other keywords to push damage through wider boards.
- Dolmen Gate — Redundant protection for attacking creatures and overlaps perfectly with Iroas's combat philosophy.
- Assemble the Legion — Generates an ever-growing army of menace attackers that snowball with Iroas online.
- Iroas, God of Victory — The engine itself—menace plus combat damage prevention makes alpha strikes lopsided.
- Adriana, Captain of the Guard — Battle cry-style anthem that pumps your whole attacking team for lethal swings.
- Combat Celebrant — Grants an extra combat phase, doubling Iroas's damage output in a single turn.
Upgrade Path
Add anthems and finishers like Cathars' Crusade, Craterhoof Behemoth, or Coat of Arms for explosive go-wide turns, plus extra-combat enablers such as Aggravated Assault and Combat Celebrant. Improve resilience with Boros Charm and Teferi's Protection against wraths, and smooth your curve with fast mana like Sol Ring, Smothering Tithe, and efficient token producers so you can deploy a board and start swinging by turn four or five.

- Voltron — Menace plus combat damage prevention lets a single buffed creature attack safely every turn.
- Extra Combats — Risk-free attacks make repeated combat phases devastating with no creature attrition.
- Equipment Aggro — Boros equipment turns evasive, indestructible-in-combat attackers into reliable damage.
