Losheel, Clockwork Scholar
The Commander
Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt to attacking artifact creatures you control.
Whenever one or more artifact creatures you control enter, draw a card. This ability triggers only once each turn.
Guide
Gameplan
Flood the board with artifact creatures, attacking freely since Losheel makes your attacking artifacts immune to combat damage, and refill your hand by drawing a card each turn an artifact creature enters. Grind through the early game with cheap artifact bodies and ramp, then deploy go-wide finishers or big robots and swing in with impunity.
Strengths
- Turns aggression into card advantage, breaking mono-white's classic draw weakness
- Combat damage prevention lets your artifacts attack into bigger boards and survive blocks
- Synergizes with a huge pool of cheap, efficient artifact creatures and tokens
- Low color demands make for consistent, splash-free mana
Weaknesses
- Heavily reliant on the commander; without Losheel the deck loses both draw and protection
- Damage prevention only applies to attacking creatures, so your team is still vulnerable on defense and to wraths
- Artifact-heavy builds fold to Vandalblast, Bane of Progress, and other mass artifact removal
- The draw trigger fires only once per turn, capping its raw card velocity
- Mono-white still struggles with ramp and reaching huge mana totals
Key Cards
- Losheel, Clockwork Scholar — The engine itself—every plan revolves around its draw trigger and combat protection.
- Myr Battlesphere — Enters making four Myr tokens, generating extra value and a fearless attacker under Losheel.
- Master of Etherium — Anthems your artifact army wide while scaling its own size to the board.
- Cyberdrive Awakener — Animates all your artifacts into creatures, triggering Losheel and creating a lethal swing.
- Sword of the Animist — Ramps you each combat, and attacking is risk-free thanks to Losheel's damage prevention.
- Skullclamp — Converts cheap artifact tokens into a draw engine that stacks on top of Losheel.
- Cataclysmic Gearhulk — A board-wipe on a body that your artifact-heavy deck recovers from faster than opponents.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana like Sol Ring, Mana Vault, and the talismans to deploy artifacts ahead of curve, plus protection such as Teferi's Protection and Heroic Intervention against wraths. Tighten the curve with efficient one- and two-drop artifact creatures and token producers to reliably fire Losheel's draw every turn, and include anthem/overrun effects like Shared Animosity or a Coat of Arms to convert the wide board into quick kills. Cathars' Crusade and Skullclamp turn token floods into snowballing advantage.
