Massacre Girl
The Commander
Menace
When Massacre Girl enters, each other creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn. Whenever a creature dies this turn, each creature other than Massacre Girl gets -1/-1 until end of turn.
Guide
Gameplan
Massacre Girl is a one-card board wipe engine: cast her, trigger the -1/-1 cascade, and watch X/1s and small creatures die in a chain reaction that snowballs into a full wrath. Spend the early game ramping and disrupting while you stockpile interaction, then deploy her to clear the board and follow up with resilient threats, drain effects, or just attack with a 4/4 menace. Mono-black gives you tutors, removal, and recursion to do this repeatedly.
Strengths
- One-card asymmetric board wipe that often kills more than a normal wrath via the death cascade
- Mono-black access to powerful tutors, ramp, and recursion to find and reuse her
- Strong against go-wide token and aggro decks built on small creatures
- Cheap to recast and combos with sacrifice/aristocrats payoffs
Weaknesses
- Whiffs against fat creatures with high toughness; one big blocker stops the chain
- Mono-black struggles with enchantments and lacks color-based interaction diversity
- Relies on creatures dying to snowball, so empty boards or indestructible/hexproof creatures blunt her
- Five mana and easily disrupted by a single removal spell in response to her ETB
Key Cards
- Heartless Hidetsugu — Damage-based wipes pair with her, but more importantly toughness-reducers like her chain into other death triggers.
- Phyrexian Tower — Sacrificing a creature in response to or alongside her trigger jump-starts the death cascade for an extra -1/-1.
- Blood Artist — Turns the cascade of dying creatures into a massive life-drain win condition.
- Dictate of Erebos — Compounds the carnage by forcing opponents to sacrifice as your board and theirs dies.
- Reanimate — Cheaply recurs Massacre Girl or other bodies to retrigger the wipe engine repeatedly.
- Sheoldred, the Apocalypse — Punishes opponents rebuilding after a wipe while keeping you stocked on resources.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana (Dark Ritual, Mana Crypt, Sol Ring) and efficient tutors (Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor) to find and deploy her ahead of curve. Lean harder into aristocrats payoffs and sacrifice outlets (Viscera Seer, Phyrexian Tower) so each death triggers maximal value, and include cheap reanimation to retrigger her wipe. Round out with mono-black staples like Sheoldred, Bolas's Citadel, and a Torment of Hailfire closer for inevitability.

- Aristocrats — Her death-trigger cascade synergizes perfectly with drain payoffs like Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat.
- Control — She functions as a repeatable board wipe to keep the table's creatures in check while you grind value.
