The Commander

Whenever Slimefoot and Squee enters or attacks, create a 1/1 green Saproling creature token.

{1}{B}{R}{G}, Sacrifice a Saproling: Return this card and up to one other target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield. Activate only as a sorcery.

Guide

Gameplan

Slimefoot and Squee is a Jund aristocrats/sacrifice engine that pumps out Saprolings on every ETB and attack, then converts those bodies into recursion fuel. You build a sacrifice loop with death triggers and token doublers, churning value and draining the table while reanimating your own (or your commander) repeatedly. Most games close out by looping creature deaths into incremental drain or by going wide and swinging with an overrun effect.

Strengths

  • Built-in recursion makes the commander immune to commander tax frustration and graveyard hate is your friend, not your enemy
  • Constant Saproling generation feeds aristocrats, convoke, and sacrifice outlets effortlessly
  • Jund colors give access to the best removal, ramp, and tutors in the format
  • Doubles as a reanimation engine, bringing back a bomb creature alongside itself each turn

Weaknesses

  • The reactivation ability is sorcery-speed, mana-hungry (BRG plus a Saproling), and slow without a token engine online
  • Token strategies are vulnerable to board wipes and edicts that strip your Saprolings
  • Needs sacrifice outlets and payoffs assembled to do anything meaningful; raw value can be grindy
  • No evasion or protection on the commander itself, so it dies to spot removal easily (though that's less punishing here)

Key Cards

  • Blood ArtistTurns every Saproling sacrifice and creature death into incremental life drain that wins grindy games.
  • Zulaport CutthroatRedundant Blood Artist effect that closes games as you loop tokens through sacrifice outlets.
  • Ashnod's AltarFree sacrifice outlet that converts Saprolings into mana to fuel the reanimation ability repeatedly.
  • Parallel LivesDoubles every Saproling trigger, accelerating both your board presence and aristocrats payoffs.
  • Pitiless PlundererGenerates Treasure on each token death, making the {1}{B}{R}{G} reanimation cost trivial to repeat.
  • MycolothA Saproling powerhouse that devours tokens and snowballs into an enormous threat.
  • Goblin BombardmentFree sacrifice outlet that pings the table and can finish opponents directly.

Upgrade Path

Add free sacrifice outlets (Ashnod's Altar, Phyrexian Altar, Viscera Seer) and Treasure makers (Pitiless Plunderer) to enable infinite loops with a Blood Artist effect. Improve mana with fast ramp and tutors like Demonic Tutor, Diabolic Intent, and Jarad's Orders to find your engine pieces, and lean into reanimation targets like Sheoldred or Grave Titan. Token doublers (Doubling Season, Parallel Lives, Anointed Procession) and a Craterhoof/Overrun finisher push you toward a faster, more explosive kill.
