Guide
Gameplan
Tajic, Legion's Edge anchors an aggressive Boros go-wide or token-aggro deck that floods the board with small attackers, then grows them via Mentor and protects them from board wipes. You curve into a wide board by turns 3-5, swing in, and use Tajic's noncombat damage prevention to laugh off Pyroclasm-style sweepers while overrunning opponents with combat damage.
Strengths
- Cheap, hasty 2/3 commander that pressures life totals immediately on turn 3
- Mentor rewards going wide with small creatures, snowballing your board over time
- Built-in protection against red/black noncombat sweepers (Pyroclasm, Blasphemous Act, Toxic Deluge to a degree) keeps your army intact
- Boros has excellent equipment, anthems, and extra-combat support
Weaknesses
- Does nothing against destroy-based or exile board wipes (Wrath of God, Damnation, Farewell)
- Limited card advantage and ramp inherent to Boros colors
- Tajic himself is small and easy to chump-block or outclass without buffs
- Slower combo and control decks can stabilize and win long games
Key Cards
- Skullclamp — Turns your glut of small creatures and tokens into a relentless card-draw engine to refuel the aggro plan.
- Adeline, Resplendent Cathar — Generates an attacking token for each opponent every combat, perfectly feeding Tajic's Mentor triggers.
- Assemble the Legion — Engine that makes an ever-growing army of soldiers immune to your own sweepers thanks to Tajic's damage prevention.
- Blasphemous Act — A one-sided board wipe in this deck since Tajic prevents the damage to your creatures while clearing blockers.
- Anointed Procession — Doubles your token output, dramatically widening the board for alpha strikes.
- Hour of Reckoning — Convoke-friendly mass removal that leaves your token army standing while clearing opposing blockers.
Upgrade Path
Lean into token doublers (Anointed Procession, Mondrak), payoff anthems (Cathars' Crusade, Coat of Arms, Intangible Virtue) and one-sided wraths (Blasphemous Act, Star of Extinction) that Tajic neutralizes for you. Add Boros card advantage and ramp like Smothering Tithe, Esper Sentinel, and Welcoming Vampire so you don't run out of gas, and consider extra-combat spells (Aggravated Assault, Combat Celebrant) to convert a wide board into a kill. Tightening the mana base with fast lands and efficient rocks (Arcane Signet, Boros Signet) keeps the aggressive curve consistent.

Archetypes
- Tokens — Tajic's Mentor and damage prevention reward flooding the board with small, expendable creatures.

- Stax-lite / Punisher — Pairing one-sided sweepers like Blasphemous Act with Tajic's prevention punishes opponents' boards while sparing yours.
