Gogo, Master of Mimicry
The Commander
,
: Copy target activated or triggered ability you control X times. You may choose new targets for the copies. This ability can't be copied and X can't be 0. (Mana abilities can't be targeted.)
Guide
Gameplan
Gogo turns one good activated or triggered ability into many by tapping and paying , multiplying value engines like card draw, untaps, bounce, or stax triggers. You build a mana-rich board, deploy a payoff ability, then point Gogo at it to snowball into card advantage, infinite loops, or a lethal trigger. Most games end through an explosive copy turn that either combos off or buries opponents in nonstop ETB/draw value.
Strengths
- Copies both activated AND triggered abilities, an unusually wide net for a mono-blue commander
- Enables true infinite combos by multiplying untap or mana-generating triggers
- Scales hard with ramp since X can be set arbitrarily high
- Mono-blue gives access to the best counterspells, card draw, and tutors to protect and assemble the engine
Weaknesses
- Symmetrical
cost makes large copies very mana-hungry
- Heavily commander-dependent; removal or tap-down shuts the deck off
- Mono-blue lacks efficient removal and struggles against fast aggro before setup
- Needs a payoff ability already on board, so it can be a do-nothing in topdeck wars
Key Cards
- Isochron Scepter — Imprint a cheap spell, then copy the activated ability with Gogo to cast it many times for combos or value.
- Aetherflux Reservoir — Copying its lifegain trigger or sniping ability with Gogo can vault you to lethal life-loss activations.
- Deadeye Navigator — Its blink trigger copied repeatedly chains infinite ETBs and value with a partner creature.
- Thousand-Year Storm — Stacks with Gogo's trigger-copying to flood the board with extra spell copies for explosive turns.
- Training Grounds — Reduces Gogo's
colorless cost, letting you copy abilities far more times for the mana.
- The Chain Veil — Copy its untap trigger to chain planeswalker activations or generate repeatable value loops.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana (Sol Ring, Mana Vault, Mana Crystals) and cost reducers like Training Grounds to make Gogo's affordable earlier. Tighten the deck around one or two compact infinite combos (Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal, or untap loops) plus tutors like Mystical Tutor and Whir of Invention to find them. Round out with strong protection—Swan Song, Mana Drain, Cyclonic Rift—so your engine survives to the copy turn.

Win Conditions
- ▸Assemble an infinite mana or untap loop, then route it into a finisher like Aetherflux Reservoir or a mill outlet
- ▸Copy a draw-your-deck trigger and win with a one-shot outlet
- ▸Generate overwhelming card advantage via copied ETB/draw triggers and win the long game
- ▸Storm off with copied spell-trigger payoffs for a single explosive lethal turn
Archetypes
- Combo — Multiplying untap, mana, or loop-enabling triggers lets Gogo assemble infinite mana or infinite draw engines.
- Spellslinger — Copying storm and copy-trigger payoffs turns one spell into a torrent of effects.
- Control — Mono-blue gives counters and card draw while Gogo doubles your best value triggers to grind opponents out.
- Artifacts — Gogo copies powerful activated abilities from artifacts like Isochron Scepter and mana rocks for value or combo.
