Mm'menon, the Right Hand
The Commander
Flying
You may look at the top card of your library any time.
You may cast artifact spells from the top of your library.
Artifacts you control have ": Add
. Spend this mana only to cast a spell from anywhere other than your hand."
Guide
Gameplan
Mm'menon turns your library into a second hand for artifacts and powers them up as a mana engine that funds non-hand casting. You flood the board with cheap artifacts, then chain spells off the top of your library while tapping your artifacts for blue mana to keep casting, aiming to out-value or storm off into a game-ending payoff.
Strengths
- Generates significant card advantage by casting artifacts straight off the top of your library
- Artifacts double as a dedicated mana engine for cast-from-top and other zone casting
- Mono-blue gives access to strong counterspells, card filtering, and protection
- Naturally enables artifact-storm and cost-reduction synergies
Weaknesses
- Heavily reliant on the commander; removal stops the whole engine
- Mono-blue struggles to remove resolved permanents and lacks board wipes
- Top-of-library casting only helps if the top card is an artifact — clunky without filtering
- Artifact-heavy boards are vulnerable to mass artifact destruction
Key Cards
- Sensei's Divining Top — Reorders your library so the artifact you want is always castable off the top.
- Mystic Forge — Stacks redundancy with Mm'menon for casting artifacts and noncreature spells off the top.
- Sai, Master Thopterist — Turns your flood of artifact casts into a token army and card draw.
- Etherium Sculptor — Cost reduction lets you chain many artifacts in a single turn alongside Mm'menon's mana.
- Brilliant Restoration — Recovers a wrecked board, refunding the artifacts your engine depends on.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana and cost reducers (Mana Vault, Mind Stone, Foundry Inspector, Cloud Key) to chain more casts per turn, plus library manipulation (Scroll Rack, Brainstorm) to guarantee castable tops. Lean into a tight combo finish such as Aetherflux Reservoir with cheap artifacts, or Isochron Scepter loops, and protect the commander with counterspells and Lightning Greaves to keep the engine online.

Archetypes

- Combo — Free or cheap artifacts plus the cast-from-top mana enable loops and storm finishes.
- Control — Mono-blue counters and card advantage let you grind while assembling your engine.
- Spellslinger — The cast-from-anywhere mana fuels casting from graveyard, exile, and top alongside cantrips.
