The Commander

Alirios enters tapped.

Alirios doesn't untap during your untap step if you control a Reflection.

When Alirios enters, create a 3/2 blue Reflection creature token.

Guide

Gameplan

Alirios is a 3-mana mono-blue body that makes a 3/2 Reflection token when it enters — but it stays tapped while you control a Reflection. The deck leans on blink/flicker and recursion to repeatedly retrigger that ETB for a stream of tokens, or simply uses Alirios as a cheap mono-blue commander to anchor a control or tempo shell. You generate board presence cheaply, then close with evasion, tokens, or a value engine.

Strengths

  • Cheap, recurring 3/2 token generator that's easy to abuse with flicker effects
  • Mono-blue gives access to the best counters, card draw, and tempo in the format
  • Token bodies feed sacrifice, convoke, and go-wide payoffs

Weaknesses

  • Alirios is awkward to use directly — he stays tapped while a Reflection lives
  • Mono-blue lacks efficient removal and struggles against resolved threats
  • Token strategy is fragile to board wipes
  • Low individual power; needs strong support to be relevant

Key Cards

  • Ghostly Flicker — Reflickers Alirios to spawn extra Reflections while untapping other key permanents.
  • Deadeye Navigator — Repeatable blink turns each pairing into a fresh Reflection token engine.
  • Conjurer's Closet — Free end-step flicker reliably nets a new 3/2 Reflection every turn.
  • Sakashima of a Thousand Faces — Clones Alirios or your best creature, doubling ETB value and Reflections.
  • Cyclonic Rift — The premier mono-blue swing that protects your board and clears blockers for the kill.

Upgrade Path

Add free or cheap repeatable flicker (Conjurer's Closet, Deadeye Navigator, Eldrazi Displacer) and clones to maximize ETB triggers. Lean into a token payoff package — Coat of Arms, Intangible Virtue, Cathars' Crusade — or pivot toward hard control with the best mono-blue counters and card advantage (Rhystic Study, Mystic Remora). Tighten your mana with fast rocks (Sol Ring, Mana Crypt) and add proactive win conditions like Thassa's Oracle plus Demonic Consultation if you want a more competitive build.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Go wide with Reflection tokens plus an anthem or overrun effect
  • ▸Beat down with cloned/evasive threats backed by counterspells
  • ▸Generate overwhelming card and board advantage, then alpha strike behind Cyclonic Rift

Archetypes

  • Blink — His ETB token reward makes flicker effects produce a steady army of Reflections.
  • Tokens — Repeated Reflection generation fuels go-wide and anthem-based attacks.
  • Control — As a cheap mono-blue commander he fits a counter-heavy tempo shell that wins late.
  • Clones — Mono-blue clone effects copy Alirios or threats to multiply ETB value.
