Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to a player, you gain life equal to that creature's toughness.
Partner (You can have two commanders if both have partner.)
Ikra turns combat damage into a steady life engine, gaining life equal to your attacker's toughness whenever any creature hits a player. Build a wide or beefy board, swing in, bank life, then convert that life into card advantage or damage. Partner lets you pair her with a second commander to round out the strategy.
Easy, repeatable life gain off any combat damage, not just hers
Partner flexibility lets you build toward aristocrats, tokens, or value
BG access to ramp, recursion, and removal
Menace makes her hard to chump-block and reliably triggers her ability
Life gain alone doesn't win games and can be a 'win-more' trap
Vulnerable to board wipes that erase your attackers
Relies on connecting in combat; pillow-fort and fogs blunt her
No evasion granted to your other creatures, so they may be blocked
A premium partner that draws cards off the same combat-damage triggers Ikra loves.
Pick a focused partner (Tymna for card draw, Sidar Kondo or Reyhan for combat synergy) instead of leaning on Ikra alone. Add payoffs that monetize life—Vito, Aetherflux Reservoir, Felidar Sovereign—plus protection like Heroic Intervention and recursion so wipes don't ruin your engine. Tighten the mana with fast rocks, fetch/dual lands, and BG staples like Sylvan Library and Cultivate to ensure you reliably connect.
