: Exile target creature card from a graveyard. When you do, put X +1/+1 counters on target Symbiote, where X is the exiled card's toughness.
Venom is a graveyard-fueled Voltron threat: pay to exile creature cards from any graveyard and dump big piles of +1/+1 counters onto Venom (or another Symbiote), then close games with menace, vigilance, and trample/evasion enhancers. Early turns you ramp and play counter-synergy support; once Venom hits the board you grind opposing graveyards for fuel and swing for lethal commander damage.
Built-in repeatable graveyard hate that doubles as your win engine, hosing reanimator/dredge decks
Vigilance + menace make Venom hard to block and free to attack while keeping back to defend
Counters scale fast off high-toughness creatures, enabling early one- or two-hit kills
Self-sufficient game plan that only needs the commander to function
Heavily reliant on the commander—removal-heavy tables can tax you with repeated recasts
Vulnerable to a single targeted removal or board wipe undoing huge counter investment
The Symbiote creature type is shallow, so counter recipients are mostly just Venom
No built-in card advantage; can run out of gas if Venom is answered repeatedly
